Terranova

Terranova is a massive soil remediation project of heavily contaminated land in the industrial zone of Ghent, Belgium. This was once a giant gypsum landfill deposit that dominated the landscape for many decades. Dredging and soil remediation is currently ongoing by Jan de Nul and DEME.

This multi-year renewal plan involves encapsulating the most heavily contaminated landfills into foils to prevent leakage and contamination of underground water reservoirs. DEME asked me to document this process and capture the foil welding team on site.
