Château Bettonville

Pre-renovation documentation of the historical Château Bettonville, a neoclassical masterpiece located on the outskirts of Verviers, in Belgium. Its monumental presence is a testimony to the grand era of industrial wealth of this area. 

The castle was commissioned by entrepreneur Clément Bettonville in 1905, to serve as a private family home. The architect: Charles Thirion, famous for many eclectic buildings in this region like the Grand Theatre of Verviers and the city’s main Central Station.

After serving as a private residence for many generations it was briefly transformed into a school for nurses, until it became vacant when the school moved to another location. The real estate group Verviers 2.0 acquired the castle in 2021. This photo series shows the state of the property before renovation.
